PwC Contract Counsel
Leading the end-to-end design of a suite of legaltech products
Over three years, I worked on PwC’s Contract Counsel suite, leveraging narrow AI to speed up the tedious contract review and risk assessment process.
What started as an MVP for single document review, evolved into a robust system capable of analysing thousands of documents, a Microsoft Word add-in, and contributions to PwC’s global design system.

Pre-Screening
We kicked off with a design sprint, aimed at defining an MVP for junior lawyers to assess individual contracts. The resulting prototype's success, tested by internal users, led to a demo for PwC’s Director of Tech and Innovation, who greenlit development.
Portfolio Analysis
Once in use, Pre-Screening performed well and received interest from more senior user types. This led us to start to define a second product focused on large-scale document reviews; Portfolio Analysis.
Our expanded team for the Portfolio Analysis tool followed a more traditional product development process, from user research and prototyping to high-fidelity design and build. This allowed us to address more complex user needs and spend more time designing more complex features.
Design system
In the absence of a design system, I created a design library, with components mirroring familiar paper-based workflows in Google Docs and Word, ensuring a dependable, safe user experience.
It also met PwC’s triple A accessibility requirement and was later integrated into their broader design system, AppKit.
Impact
Timesheet data indicated that it increased review speed by over 50%, saving staff 3 hours a day without any inaccuracies
Used as a benchmark for other PwC internal products, helping my agency in selling two more end-to-end similar projects
Rapidly brought a new tool to market using an emerging technology (at the time)
Exceeded user expectations when compared with competitors
